“Are you a landowner with the desire to steward forests for fire resilience and to benefit wildlife? In this workshop, you can learn from Pepperwood’s Preserve Manager – Michael Gillogly, Assistant Preserve Manager – Devyn Friedfel. Pepperwood has been experimenting with forest thinning and prescribed fire to optimize forest health. Come learn how to manage vegetation in different forest types, how to deal with the slash, how wildfire responds to different treatments, what is the best response to fire killed trees, and what funding sources are available for forest stewardship. We will visit sites throughout the preserve and discuss our techniques and lessons learned following the Tubbs and Kincade fires. We will explore the benefits and challenges of using prescribed fire, and visit a recently burned prescribed fire forest plot. ”
